Wayne Jail and Release Records

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office operates the Adult Detention Center and maintains the county jail docket. Ask it to route a request for a named booking, release or discharge entry, release sheet, or transfer receipt. Local records hours, submission procedures, and fees are not published, so call before visiting or sending a request.

MDOC Records and Supervision

For a state prisoner or state discharge, contact MDOC rather than the Wayne County jail. MDOC requires public-records requests in writing under its published records policy. Its GovQA entry point is linked from the official public-records page. Inspection is by appointment from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on working days. Mechanical copies cost $0.15 per page, with permitted actual labor, mailing, or vendor costs when applicable.

Choose the Correct Release Route

Use the custody system and question to select an official contact.

  • For a Wayne County released person or county release record, begin with the sheriff and the full search steps on the home page.
  • For supervision after release, consult Parole / Probation and call the local MDOC office.
  • For a same-day local release question, the Released Last 24 Hours resource explains the records fallback because no county feed is verified.
  • For a state estimate or alert, use the Inmate Release Date and VINELink Release Check resources.
  • For the local jail itself, use the Wayne County Adult Detention Center page listed in the footer.
  • For a state prisoner, use the MDOC inmate search and written MDOC records route.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP locator or ICE detainee locator and the responsible federal office.

MS SAVIN assistance is available at 601-359-5759 or 1-888-9-MSSAVIN, with TTY at 866-847-1298 and general VINE support at 866-277-7477. The ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line is 1-888-351-4024, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern, excluding holidays.
